How to get rid of flies: natural and homemade solutions

A good homemade solution to get rid of flies is to put a mixture of essential oils in the rooms of the house. In addition, a mixture of orange and lemon can also keep flies away from some places, while providing a pleasant smell in the room.

However, in cases where it is difficult to keep flies away from certain places, a great option is to put strips of brightly colored cardboard, such as yellow or orange, with molasses, hanging in the room, to catch the flies.

1. Orange, lemon and cloves

Orange and lemon can be combined with some cloves to make a strong homemade solution against flies and mosquitoes, as the smell produced by the mixture is capable of repelling insects from the room where it is.

Ingredients

  • Peel of 1 fresh orange
  • zest of 1 fresh lemon
  • 1 handful of cloves

Preparation mode

Put the ingredients in a bowl and leave it in the room or entrance of the house to prevent flies from entering. The mixture must be changed every 3 days to avoid the appearance of a bad smell caused by the decomposition of the shells.

2. Blend of essential oils

Some essential oils, such as eucalyptus and lavender, have excellent natural repellent properties that help keep insects away, being widely used to get rid of flies at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 drops of cedar essential oil
  • 2 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
  • 2 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 1 cup of boiling water

Preparation mode

Gather the ingredients and leave in a small container in a room of the house. For best results, place a container of this in each room of the house, but out of reach of children, to prevent them from drinking the mixture.

In addition to these homemade solutions, it is important to keep the garbage bins well covered and the house well clean and ventilated to avoid the accumulation of flies, as they have a greater preference for hot and dirty places where they can lay their eggs.
